What we do

Everything below the waterline, handled.

Since 1979, Barney Culls has kept boat bottoms clean and back-bay water moving in Huntington Harbour and the surrounding marinas. Hull cleaning, zincs, props, thru-hulls, and bottom paint for boat owners. Pressure washing and float cleaning for docks and marinas. Intake and flow-area cleaning for harbors and back bays. One diver, no haul-out, no surprises.

For boat owners

In-water service, no haul-out.

Every job below is done with the boat in the water, on a schedule that fits how you use it.

The one day a boat comes out: bottom paint. Every other visit is a diver.

Monthly hull cleaning

Divers scrub the barnacles, grass, and slime off your bottom, running gear, and waterline on a set schedule. Growth never gets ahead of you, and your paint lasts longer for it.

Monthly

Zinc & anode replacement

Anodes get checked on every visit and swapped before they wear through. Left too long, a spent zinc lets electrolysis eat at your running gear instead.

Ask

Propeller pulling & running-gear service

Props pulled, cleaned, and reseated in the water, along with shafts, struts, and running gear. No haul-out, no yard bill, no boat out of the water for days.

Ask

Underwater thru-hull replacement & installation

Thru-hulls replaced or installed below the waterline by the diver, on your regular visit, without dry-docking the boat.

Ask

Bottom painting

Fresh bottom paint applied to keep growth off and slow the next round of barnacles. Done right, it makes every cleaning after it faster and cheaper.

Ask

Washdowns

Topside washdowns to knock salt, spray, and grime off your boat between cleanings.

Ask

Underwater inspection reports & photos

Ask for a report and we hand back notes on the condition of your hull, zincs, running gear, and thru-hulls, no diving of your own required. Underwater pictures on request.

Ask

Salvage

Give us a call if you drop something in the harbor or your boat sinks, and we will retrieve it.

Ask

Electronic Retro-Fit

Bring an older boat’s electronics current: navigation, electrical, and instrument upgrades. Tell us what you’re running now and what you want out of it, and we’ll quote the retro-fit.

Ask

What a visit includes

  • Barnacles, grass, and slime scrubbed off the bottom, running gear, and waterline
  • Zinc/anode checked every visit
  • Underwater photos on request
  • Pay by check, credit card, or Zelle

For docks & marinas

Docks stay clean, floats stay light.

Whether it’s the walking surface or the underwater structure, we keep docks and floats free of the buildup and growth that bog them down.

Topside dock pressure washing

Decking, gangways, and slip surfaces washed clean of grime, algae, and stains. Soft-washed on wood, full pressure on composite and concrete, so the surface comes clean without getting torn up.

Ask

Dock float cleaning

Mussels, barnacles, and marine growth pulled off your dock’s floats and pilings. Left alone, that growth adds weight and drag to your float. Cleared on a schedule, it never gets the chance.

Ask

Underwater dock cleaning

The diver works the parts of your dock you can’t see, the understructure below the waterline, the same way we clean a hull. Growth down there is the kind that never gets noticed until the float sits low.

For harbors & back bays

Intake & flow-area cleaning.

HOAs, marina and harbor management, and water districts call us to keep intake and flow areas clear. We pull the algae, aquatic weed, and sediment that build up and choke the circulation a back bay depends on.

Left alone, that buildup slows water movement through the whole channel. Cleared on a schedule, the water keeps moving the way it’s supposed to.

Getting started

Three steps, then it’s off your plate.

  1. 01

    Call

Tell us the harbor, the boat, or the dock, and how you want it serviced.

  2. 02

    We assess

A diver looks at your boat, dock, or slip, and we set the schedule and scope that fit it.

  3. 03

    You’re on the schedule

Your boat or dock gets serviced on a standing rotation, no reminder calls needed.

Ready when you are
